Application Process

Step 1. Develop Your Project Plan

Before applying, you’ll need:

  • Site design and charger layout
  • Electrical capacity assessment
  • Equipment specifications (Level 2 or DCFC)
  • Cost estimates
  • Project timeline
  • Ownership and accessibility model

This is where working with an experienced EVSE partner is critical.

Step 2. Submit Application During Intake

Applications are submitted through NRCan’s online portal when a funding call is open.

Your submission typically includes:

  • Detailed project description
  • Budget breakdown
  • Technical specifications
  • Site drawings
  • Proof of eligibility
  • Indigenous documentation (if applicable)

You may submit up to two project proposals per intake.

 

Step 3. Evaluation & Approval

NRCan evaluateas proposals based on:

  • Project readiness
  • Impact on charging accessibility
  • Geographic distribution
  • Cost-effectiveness
  • Alignment with program goals

If approved, you will receive a Contribution Agreement outlining funding terms.

 

Step 4. Reporting & Reimbursement

ZEVIP operates on a reimbursement model.

You must:

  • Submit invoices and proof of payment
  • Provide progress reports
  • Demonstrate compliance
  • Submit final completion documentation

Funding (up to 50% or 75% for Indigenous applicants) is reimbursed after eligible expenses are verified.
